Democracy does not accept compromises that harm it The writer[?] is not even thinking of publicly asking to offer a possible cooperation to the Republican Party for the local elections. The conversation held yesterday at a meeting with journalists looks more like a conclusion than any proposal in advance. And yet, as can be seen from the exchanges in the question-and-answer session and the comments, since we are on the eve of elections and our politicians do not want to leave anything unattended, Mr. Godo certainly must have seriously considered the possibility of some eventual cooperation. Thus, so as not to stray from the content of the conversation, the remarks presented here will generally be those he said or implied yesterday in that meeting at the League of Writers and Artists. At the beginning, Mr. Sabri Godo, not without reason, emphasized the political character of the local elections. Then he said that the Republican Party does not even consider coalition with any political force as a compromise of its principles, which it defends firmly. He added that the democratization of the country cannot be based on cooperation that would harm democracy, as happens, for example, with the left-wing forces which, according to him, have damaged Albania's political future. According to Mr. Godo, the PD is at the forefront of the country's politics, but this should not imply any merger of forces to harm us later. His message is clear: if one day such an alliance is made, it will be of the nature of harmful compromises that would damage the democratic process itself.
