Neza explains that “it is an unlawful act for a party that is not legally recognised in Albania to participate in international activities”. Among other things, the law on political parties states: “parties that advocate violence or racism, as well as parties whose organisation is contrary to democratic principles, are prohibited from carrying out their activities.” It was the Party of Labour, guided by Marxist-Leninist ideology, that was renamed the Socialist Party at its 10th congress.
