USA: “You are successors to the PPSH”
Socialists abandon the campaign in Albania
An unprecedented case in Albanian politics. The leaders of a party leave the country at the height of the election campaign. This has happened with the Socialists, some of whom, one day after they themselves announced the start of the campaign, abandon everything and set off for America. Although, according to the U.S. Embassy in Albania and the State Department, they are uninvited, Sallumbi, Meta, Islami and An-[?]eli will meet some senior officials at the State Department. But the problem is that, in addition to denying the possibility of an invitation from the State Department, in its denial it described them as successors to the Labor Party. “You’re wasting your time having made this long journey.” Also, the right to stand for election under the “anti-genocide” law. Nevertheless, this does not seem likely to prevent the ab-[?] The above characterization of the Socialists, coming from the USA, also coincides with the fact that the Socialist delegation includes two figures who have been stripped of Nevertheless, this does not seem likely to affect the campaign much, even though two of the visitors to the Party of the Atlantic are delegates from the Verification Commission—Continued on p. 2
Anomalies at the Court of Cassation
Trials expected to last 15 minutes went on for hours. Chess master Muço, an informant in 1969.
An eight-hour trial to verify eligibility before the Court of Cassation.
Yesterday, a trial concerning 13 people “branded” by the Figure Verification Commission continued for eight hours at the Court of Cassation. But what must be singled out is that journalists were excluded from the courtroom. In fact, the guard, with the unforgettable name Kujtim, and the duty police officer took over the powers of court president Avni Shehu. The process, which had been announced as lasting 15 minutes for each “branded” person, lasted more than an hour. Initially, the order was that only the lawyer could enter the courtroom, but after the 13 interested parties objected, guard Kujtim gave the “go-ahead.” Continued on p. 3

LDK statement on the latest events in Kosovo
Yesterday in Prishtina, the Presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo published a statement concerning the events of the past two days in Kosovo, in which a 20-year-old Albanian and 5 people from the Serb community were killed and 5 others were wounded.
The LDK emphasized that the tense situation in Kosovo is
escalating and that “the danger of open conflict is not imaginary, but real.”
The statement pointed out that these may be isolated acts, provocations, but that in the tense situation in the province they could assume dangerous proportions.
The LDK emphasized that the Serb refugees brought from Serbia to Kosovo with the aim of changing its ethnic structure have significantly increased tensions.
The Democratic League noted that the peaceful orientation of the Albanian political movement, and the fact that Albanians have so far been able to avoid open conflict in Kosovo, are joined by the very important fact that the Albanian political movement does not allow opposition to the Serbian occupation of Kosovo to degenerate into hostility toward the Serb people.
Condemning these acts of violence and terror, the LDK called on all citizens of Kosovo to refrain from any action that could worsen the situation and to contribute to creating the atmosphere needed for dialogue and a peaceful solution to the Kosovo problem.
The statement protests the new wave of Serbian state violence and terror against Albanians under the pretext of the recent incidents, whose perpetrators are still unknown.
“The very haste of Serbia’s police authorities to respond with new terror, which [?] the issue without any support, speaks to the possibility that large-scale events are being orchestrated,” the Democratic League of Kosovo states.
The LDK appeals to the international community to intensify its efforts toward a just resolution of the Kosovo question, in accordance with the political will of its people.
