The “Kingdom of Ponzi Schemes” Reveals Its Secrets

Today, viewed as a whole, the Kingdom of Pyramid Schemes is a bank (the most powerful in Albania) with an initial capital of 3.7 billion dollars. This “bank” is controlled by 18 powerful bosses, who also represent the respective firms, companies, or foundations. Around 33% of this amount consists of investments in the true sense of the word. Of these, only 1.1% are outside the country. Meanwhile, 45% of the share investments that recover the money from the pyramid schemes are with foreign partners. Across the country, 1,243 offices and counters operate, enabling the collection of money from around 16,500 heads of household. Specialists estimate that the daily amount paid in as shares in the pyramid scheme is twice as large as the amount withdrawn by around 200,000 clients of the schemes, who, in comparative figures, account for around 10% of the Albanian population, or more than 50% of families in our country.
