Tritan Shehu expels Azem Hajdari

What was expected has happened. The DP has washed its hands of Azem Hajdari. Yesterday, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Tritan Shehu, acting under the Party statute [wording unclear: “statutit të Partisë uji dhe të Azemit”], which gives him the right to expel members from the National Council, decided to expel Azem Hajdari from the National Council of the Democratic Party. According to sources within the DP, Mr. Shehu justified this decision by saying that Azem had strayed from the Democratic Party line. The apparent reason is Azem Hajdari’s recent positions concerning the problems of the BSPSH. As is known, a few days ago, a congress convened with the participation of Azem Hajdari’s supporters in the BSPSH elected Hajdari president of the Albanian trade unions. This is the second blow his own party has dealt Azem Hajdari within a few days, following his dismissal as chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Order and SHIK.
