The governing coalition threatened by the Democratic Party
NATO’s Vranicki on Berisha - He will meet the “rebels”
Pollo - Shehu: “Without the disarmament of the Rescue Committees there can be no elections.” When will the PD disarm?
The elections are no longer a question of yesterday, and if they are to be held in June, as preparations seem to indicate, the government led by Fino has one main task: to bring the rescue committees back to the side of real Albania, so that each can perform its role, whether for dialogue or for public order and calm. The key ministers in Fino’s cabinet see this issue as a crucial point for the government’s stability, as an important task for the rescue committees, and as a cost-saving strategy for the majority. Only in this way, they say, can elections be held despite weapons, militias and gangs. On its side, the Democratic Party has warned through various statements that it will not allow the rescue committees and militias to take part in the elections, in order to keep them safe. If there is no sustainable strategy, then, as leading PD politicians say, “elections in Albania cannot be held if there is no order.”
Albania, in their view, has become thoroughly troubled over the vote. The outcome of the elections is another major turning point. A big mental and political shift. In this way, Albania is becoming a smarter and more democratic society. Supporting this trend is the latest example offered by the elections. The parliament’s and the committees’ psychologists, high authoritarianism could not be lower: it would again be eliminated. The confrontation with President Berisha and with the opposition represented by Fatos Nano is like an iron squad. The best strategy for a government whose country has begun to think about holding elections is still not known.
Albania, in reality, has become more troubled over its own vote. The transition from one election to the next continues to be driven by a major proposal about elections. Albania, like another major election country, is still left without a fair political choice. In order to preserve the vote of all its citizens, it strengthens its voice through the authorities, with firm determination. Albania is moving toward a truly democratic society.
In a somewhat fragmented, open way, these are the things that have shaped politics. Albania, although the orders from the PD are still supportive of the government, its citizens, as well as police directors, are in need of seeking calm. That is what they will need in order to survive. In the latest newspaper of the press committee, in a long article, it is written that the elections are upcoming, the other messages of President Berisha; instead of a society that is just, Albania needs a good election. That is the main point.
