Abusing it could bring June 29 back again

The still not fully confirmed results point to a clear victory for the PS-PSD left-wing alliance. the PS-PSD left-wing alliance. Immediately afterwards comes the unavoidable responsibility of directing the fate of Albania, gravely compromised in recent times as a result of the PD’s, and especially Berisha’s, misguided and irresponsible politics. In such cases, the more decisive the victory, the heavier the obligation toward all those who entrusted their future to politicians who, through their propaganda, managed to convince a broad section of the people of the desired destination for their vote. How capable will these politicians be of managing the victory they have achieved? What assurance does their political past offer, and what assurance does their experience in directing and governing the country provide? If we look at the historical events of recent years, unfortunately we are compelled to doubt that this will be a genuine success, for the simple reason that great successes have brought swift disappointments, which in turn have meant serious disasters for those who fail to understand that they have taken a wrong turn along the way. A decisive victory creates precedents for stubborn and arrogant conduct in politics, which in itself rules out offers from the opposition. If the socialists make Berisha’s mistakes, or do not abandon some of their own practices and conduct which, despite their not having been in power, have played a negative role in the Albanian political environment, then the misfortune will not be only that of the Albanians, but above all that of the socialists themselves and and and the Albanians. They must not rely on any of their allies. They must not rely on any negative elements of the past that teem within their party. They are burdened both with ideology and with practices that are entirely unacceptable in today’s world, all the more so because many of them are allergic to them, reminding us of a dead era. On the other hand, even if space is created in government for possible elements that should be supported by the coalition, for a legal framework and an independent parliament, this is the only way. For Albania to become a true democracy, for any support to rest on genuine political stability, that is, on relations with the opposition. The governing side, on the path to managing its success, holds its fate in its hands, and that fate, whether we like it or not, is closely tied to the fate of the country. We would like the past not to be abused and for it not to be forgotten that all the credit that emerged on June 29 ... [partly illegible]
