The red thread of the party in the diplomatic bags The new ambassadors were lined up yesterday before Prime Minister Nano. The compatibility of the priorities of the Albanian government's program with the priorities of the partners, the generation of energies and contacts, the maximum use of the favorable international climate to help Albania, the unblocking of aid and development projects, were some of the points on which Prime Minister Nano discussed with the new diplomats. Support for the Government's program was the Prime Minister's main instruction, without forgetting the defense of national interests, which were nevertheless in second place. Nano yesterday gave a long lesson on the diplomacy that his people should carry out in the world. His lesson, described by the red thread of the party, was listened to with great attention by the more reserved diplomats. In the end Nano nevertheless told them that they were not party members, since he had only given them party instructions. For the diplomats, who leave in a week for the assigned countries, the hardest challenge will apparently be changing the foreign mentality toward Albanian diplomats, who, often inspired by partisan fanfare, have not been able to raise themselves to the level of representing a country, but yesterday's meeting did not make one very optimistic on this point. The routine and rust that have built up in relations with some of our country's main partners is the first step the diplomats will have to face. Whether they succeed is up to them. After the crisis Albania has gone through and after that tainted image in the eyes of the civilized world, the Albanian Prime Minister emphasized the importance of raising diplomacy to the level of European developments, and especially in solving the Balkan question, for which the Government once again was made more interested after its government program.
