Kosovo, hostage to Orthodox fundamentalism

Renewed call for a ceasefire in Kosovo. The Contact Group, meeting in London, demanded an end to the violence in a new ultimatum to Milosheviç, while not abandoning its desire for a diplomatic solution. But US Secretary of State Ms. Ollbrajt and British Foreign Secretary Kuk have expressed their conviction that the threat of force precedes diplomacy and that now, after the tragic experience of Bosnia, the West will no longer delay action on Kosovo. The overwhelming majority of the Contact Group’s member states are deeply concerned by Russia’s position, as it disagrees with the West’s swift measures, considering Kosovo an “internal matter of Serbia.” Thus, while Milosheviç has mined the border line to prevent those who fled Kosovo from returning, Russia has obstructed the main line of the international diplomatic front.
