Events in Kosovo, and especially the diplomatic delays, are causing the localist spirit of Eastern Europeans, particularly the Russians, to erupt.
Russia is sliding toward complete intolerance. The head of the Department of International Military Cooperation, General Idhashov, warned of the resumption of the “Cold War” if NATO intervenes in Kosovo without authorization from the UN Security Council. A new cold war, in addition to local conflicts, would raise the danger of escalation into a clash between the great powers. Up to now, the position of Europe and the USA has been nothing other than excessive military self-confidence. The failure to act in time showed that some of the old demons of European history are
