The elections of 21 June showed that Albanian politics is desperate.
Its institutions are ... illegal in the direction of... [?] the free vote of the majority. The politicians embraced the elections with naïve enthusiasm. As the OSCE emphasized at yesterday’s press conference, the elections were a step backward for Albanian politics. But the OSCE representative in Tirana, Mr Everts, did not think so. “The OSCE considers the elections a ‘significant step in consolidating democracy’.” It is true that standardized democracies nurture their own side, but this will not happen in Albania, since we do not have the theoretical concepts.
