The “Tereza” legacy, or a prayer for devastated Albania

The myth of universal humanism. Mother Teresa embodies what is missing from Albanian society today. Albania and Tereza cannot read and interpret one another. Tereza prayed for Albania, to remove its ominous inferiority and enable it to live in step with the times, in peace and humanism. But she could not have imagined that Albania’s political leaders would build a new reality for themselves and not for Albanians. By denying any kind of connection between politics and morality, they have acted against the philosophy of humanism and against national interests. The fruits of democratic gains are directly threatened by a wave of individualism that brings about the loss of the shared substance of communication. In these circumstances, the Terez[a?] Message constitutes an urgent warning. It speaks of what is missing and of what must not be allowed to happen.
