The failure of international diplomacy to respond to the bloody crisis in the former Yugoslavia, particularly in Kosovo, has prompted political forces and various representatives of Albanians, on both sides of this administrative border, to pursue broader cooperation, aiming to converge on a pan-national consensus.
With the exception of Mr. Nano’s government, which reacted to the latest tragedy in Kosovo in a bureaucratic style, carrying out a number of exhausted diplomatic rituals by sending letters and telegrams to international chanceries, all political forces—certainly excluding those that are pro-Greek—reminded the International Community that without resolving the Kosovo issue in favor of full independence and recognition of the legitimate Republic, the situation in the former Yugoslavia will remain… Continued on page 3
