The state in chaos

By Maksim BEGEJA The Albanian state continues to wander in chaos, if only because it insists on trampling property and failing to respect its lawful owners. The iron woman against the MAFIA

Rosa Russo Jervolino or... At first glance, her suit with a velvet collar, “Hermes” scarf, Chanel handbag, silk shirt, sheer stockings and heavy gold necklace evoke a Catholic bourgeois woman, a charitable lady, a Roman collector of memorabilia. This impression is confirmed by the roses placed in her office and the Persian sofas with rose-patterned covers surrounding her. But Rosa Russo Jervolino, 62, Minister of the Interior since 21 October, is more than that. She is the first woman in Europe to have more than 300,000 people under her responsibility—the po- P. 10
