The anxiety of Rambouillet

Arben ILJAZI During yesterday’s meetings in Pristina, Ambassador Hill told the representatives of the Albanians that, after a political settlement and the establishment of democratic institutions, Kosovo would not be deprived of its right to independence. Hill identified democratic elections as one of the main elements of the political settlement, in which the people of Kosovo would freely elect their representatives by vote. For the International Community, the Rambouillet meeting has begun to be regarded as a new Dayton. But Rambouillet confronts the Albanians with a major dilemma. With all our hearts, we wish to live in a world without violence, poverty, or disease. International efforts in the fields of politics and economics cannot build such a world because there is no basic foundation of unity, which must be built on culture and the heart. P. 10

White coats, a handout from those in power

Brojka: “Just as they took power from us by force on June 29, they also took the red-and-black shirts. Their methods are now known” TIRANA: The opposition had asked four days before the match to wear shirts in the colors of the national flag, red and black, and for those in power to wear the national team’s second shirts, that is, the white ones. This is because the opposition knows that they have fought more for these colors than the people in power. But even though the mayor Albert Page 15
