Milošević opens the “second front”
By Ruben AVXHIU
Milošević has once again muddied the West’s “game.” The Serbs have set off “a bomb” in Bosnia that will undoubtedly have a direct impact not only on Kosovo but also on the Balkans as a whole. At a time when all international efforts are focused on finding a solution to the Kosovo issue, the Bosnian Serbs have unanimously withdrawn from all the multiethnic institutions established in the country by the Dayton Agreement.
The bone of contention is the city of Brčko. The Serbs took it by force, violently changing the city’s ethnic makeup. Brčko was administered by the international community, while its status had been left, since Dayton, to international arbitration after a three-year period. The difficulty of the issue led to the city being left once again under neutral international administration. In response to this decision, Serbian representatives have abandoned the collective presidency, the three-ethnic parliament chamber, etc., effectively breaking away from the federation created “by uniting” through world diplomacy, with the special contribution of the American Holbrook.
Today, the parliament of the Serb Republic of Bosnia was due to meet to make a “very important” decision. As if by coincidence, today too, according to U.S. Senator Bob Doll, the Kosovo Albanians will sign the agreement
