Europe has understood that confrontation among the Balkan countries means mutual destruction. When the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain fell with unforeseen speed and the winds of freedom began to blow, Europe understood that no ideology can advance when it is imposed. Europe’s great powers seem to have understood that the democratic and national ideals of smaller peoples need to be respected.
