A more civilized Balkans, toward [?]
By Dalip GRECA
Entirely, Albania and Kosovo are becoming overwhelming in the daily reality of war. Around us, above our heads, the sounds of war fill people’s minds, and in the case of Kosovo it occupies a place that forces one to think a great deal, to think and to struggle, to reflect on everything these events have caused, not only the peace of the recent past, but life itself.
With the crossing of borders, always established by the Ottoman Empire, Albanians were divided by territory through various divisions and wars. But not anymore in today’s times. Current politics has a stance and no longer tolerates an arbitrary border that has split one people like the Albanians into four states.
In this Albania, the Kosovo war, which came in a very exhausting year, is bringing another consciousness among Albanians, who are seeing themselves and their state as one body, one nation.
Today, under new circumstances, a different atmosphere is beginning in order to give space to the nation that has taken hold not only of Albania, but also of Kosovo. In our memories, these events are a chapter of their own, but no less indelible, and it can be thought that they will always be a lesson for many things to come.
Relations with Kosovo and with Albanians themselves are calling for a major cleansing and a reorganization of their civic stance. Today we face a currency and a history that have opened many tears and memories and are still living through the completion of an additional chapter that is profoundly changing the Balkans.
We must begin from these tasks, which have emerged from the centuries, with a new perspective and a new will, to reset our country’s history with humanity, with fate and for the better of the whole nation, with progress and modern ideas.
Kosovo will be the one that defends freedoms, with those clarified, just motives, which are only the same as our own rights. These are the great tasks for us, who even today stand together with the Albanian lands and the building of a more civilized Balkans. The religion and purpose of this state must begin from the idea of a great and inseparable coexistence, in order to secure the development of the nation, the freedom of the individual and society, and to serve as a legacy for a life that looks far ahead and works to improve humanity.
A better Balkans, more conscious, more open, is also seeking a policy of agreement and peace, as the best path to unite more and bring closer the nations that comprise it.
The birth of such a Balkans, despite all its difficulties, will be a beacon of hope for the future of Albanians and Balkan peoples in general.
