War of chairs, the state without chairs
By Agim Baçi
The chairs left frozen in government offices are presented to us as abundant and as a reserve for harder times. In fact, some of the most ardent among them even wanted to come into government. "If it burns," they say, "we'll take it later too." The aim was to keep the chairs in plain sight and right before their eyes in every cabinet they might enter. In fact, some of the most ardent among them even wanted to come into government. "If it burns," they say, "we'll take it later too."
But, he began, the government body did everything to place these chairs more attractively, so that they could be seen a little and not disappear over time. But should the temporary government be stabilized, calm, and carry out its function wisely, not as a "blind" undertaking against anyone or any task according to calculations of party numbers and each temporary and changing manipulation with sleepy temporariness. The unclear political class, in which at times a degraded slow development of internal resistance dominates, clearly shows the lack of seriousness in the country and can be considered first and foremost as its barometer.
The truest cause of the situation created is the fear of losing power, which has led some to think that only by moving their chairs as much as possible can they secure more mandate and legitimacy. By neglecting the state and leaving it in disorder, they think they are avoiding responsibility. No one undertakes to build calm for the state; on the contrary, more and more there is thinking about moving chairs, to the point that the temporary government turns into a government of chairs, not of the state.
Tomorrow there will be a continuation if these affairs continue in the same spirit. It is clear that in Albania there has been disregard for the seriousness of office and of the state. Everyone thinks of sitting where they wish and pushing each other out with tricks. The endless dragging out of such conflicts only makes more visible the failure of a mentality that does not build a state, but takes the place of the state with quarrels over chairs.
