By MAKSIM BEGEJA The Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly sets out the principles concerning property. The PD and PS continue to trample these principles with both feet, while claiming to be integrating into European society. On the other hand, Article 41 of the current Constitution clearly addresses this issue, but the violation remains blatant in its practical application. For this reason, the “Property with Justice” association has appealed to the Constitutional Court and then to the Court in Strasbourg. It is precisely this Court that resolved an analogous problem in Romania a short time ago. I say that we will certainly manage to resolve this misunderstanding through our will and determination. On the other hand, the PD will seek to amend the Universal Declaration of Human Rights [sic] bills that infringe the Constitution. These include the law on pastures and forests, the law on urban property, the privatization law, and the law on private housing. All of these have restrictions or need to be improved. We are also currently opposed to the buying and selling of land and to the seizure of land by anonymous individuals. We also call for the privatization process to be blocked and for expropriations for public needs to be temporarily halted until the property issue is resolved and a law is adopted setting out the criteria for expropriations as well as the corresponding compensation. We are also working to submit all these matters to the commission established under the prime minister. Continued on page 3
