By Ilir BUSHI While intellectuals are bidding farewell as they leave Albania in despair because their hopes have been shattered, Prime Minister Meta announced last night the list of these kinds of politicians, since human society can in no way be treated as a collection of horses that, on a chessboard, move only to ensure their own survival. What the government can do is bring in other battalions of soldiers, giving them the identity of ministers, in order to create at any cost a barricade to protect the high-ranking leadership, which one day must answer for the ... it cost Albania through regressive experiments. But the institutionalized crisis in Albania, accompanied by further losses of energy, does not seem able to stop the momentum of Albanian quixotism, which is determined to lead the country down a road where traffic lights and signs warn of a certain ... . What Albania has gained over these years from pseudo-politicians is ... equivalent to the thousands who have left and wander the streets of Europe, plus thousands more who live off the trade in Albanians. The arrival of an extraordinary ... of young people who, above all, have lost faith in the future. Mathematical connections, rejecting every kind of calculation, remind us ... [partly illegible] ... cannot under any circumstances be treated as a collection of horses which, on the chessboard, move only to guarantee the king’s survival. What the present government can do to spare itself tomorrow’s shame is to foster a climate of understanding leading up to the forthcoming elections, in which governments include accountability, free from the influence of Rallashnikovs and other manipulations that have entered the history of this century’s end as caricatures of Albanian democracy. The chessboard for the soldier-ministers has now turned into a general maze, where they keep getting confused, moving in the wrong directions, because, in fact, an abyss awaits them whichever way they turn. Albanian governments have by now become absurd corridors, where false steps seem continually to undermine agreements that will never be fulfilled, or trails of bloodshed that will always remain bloody. The tragedy and wasteland into which the pseudopoliticians have led us can be remedied in only one way, which will surely come through the institutionalization of the people’s free vote.
