The Serbs stop the Albanian Republicans

The delegation was not allowed to enter Banja Luka, where it had been invited to take part in the European People's Party Conference The Serbs stop the Albanian Republicans The delegation was not allowed to enter Banja Luka, where it had been invited Bosnian Serb representatives in Banja Luka on Wednesday blocked representatives of the Republican Party of Albania and the Christian Democratic Party of Albania, who were in that city at the invitation of the European People's Party Conference. According to the correspondent of the newspaper “Republika”, the chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, and the deputy chairman of the Christian Democratic Party, Nikollë Lesi, were declared persona non grata and were forced to leave Banja Luka airport immediately. According to Mr. Mediu, after arrival and after completing the formalities to enter Bosnia, he, together with Mr. Lesi and other representatives, were informed by the police authorities and airport officials that they could not enter Banja Luka because they had received orders from the Yugoslav state to return immediately to their homeland. After intervention by the conference authorities at the airport, the Serbian authorities were forced to let them enter Bosnia; otherwise an incident would have been caused. “If we had been sent back to Albania, we would have included this case in the correspones organization. Again the right-wingers were denouncing that the data received by us about the cooperation of some high-ranking officials with the mafia of the Serbian state had turned out to be true. That is the real reason for our blocking,” Mediu told the newspaper “Republika”. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Christian Democratic Party, Nikollë Lesi, declared that the reason for their entry into Bosnia was participation in the conference where many high-level international figures were taking part, in order to make the PR's relations with this body concrete. “We were there on an official invitation and there was absolutely no reason for them not to let us in. Such a historic incident denounces the delegation of our republican force,” he said. Mr. Lesi pointed out that the only message coming from the Serbian authorities is that Albania needs to adopt a firmer political stance toward them. Faced with these events, according to the Serbian authorities, the Albanian government has done nothing to prevent the deterioration of this situation, describing it as an admirer of the Serbian government and a bridge for its influence in Yugoslavia. Thus, a present government in Tirana, according to statements by representatives of the delegation, will not care about the destabilizing forces in the PR delegation.
