Parliamentary commission, broader powers for anti-corruption work

PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION, BROADER POWERS FOR ANTI-CORRUPTION The parliamentary bureau has decided to submit to the Assembly for approval the PD proposal to establish a commission that will be tasked with investigating corruption cases. In this way, it would bypass the delays and the leadership of Parliament over the proposal and decision on this special commission. Appointed by means of a special Assembly decision, the commission will have the right to request verification of documentation, call witnesses, experts and representatives of the relevant institutions, as well as set other conditions for conducting the investigations. Likewise, the commission will have the right to order the appearance of all central and local government bodies to provide clarifications. In addition, the commission will have the power to request information and documents from administrative offices and other bodies. According to sources, the PD initiative, supported by its allies, is expected to be approved. Left- and right-wing MPs opposed the functioning of this commission, considering it a "Heads" commission of ministers. P. 5
