The Republican Party strongly condemns the possible manipulations over these last 6 months for the 1 October vote. The PR spokesperson, Fatmir Mediu, in a press conference, stated that the election manipulations are alarming and in flagrant violation of the Electoral Code. The chairman of the PR parliamentary group, Sabri Godo, considers it a common issue for the opposition, one that must be opposed in every possible way. The chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, stated that the secretariat for Public Relations is meeting. It is requested that the suspicions raised in the government’s draft electoral code be discredited. It seems that the all-out conflict has begun to take shape. P. 3

The President of the Republic will not forward the Prime Minister’s request for consultation with political parties on the composition of the CEC. Sources from the Presidency say that the President decided to return this request to the Prime Minister. Consultation is not a political necessity for the appointments of the members of the Central Election Commission. The President’s institution has stated that, just like any important process in political life, no one else can think that the “spirit” is introduced by decrees. The consultation sent by the Prime Minister’s office is incomplete, since the proposed list has not been included. Likewise, the President’s office, taking into account the Supreme Court’s assessment regarding the registration of the 45 days allowed for candidacies, has pointed out that the President’s involvement in the appointments makes him jointly responsible for the standard and level of the commission, something that cannot happen without consultation and a clear procedural definition by the Electoral Code.
