The whole debate over the elections of 1 December in Shkupi, even when it comes resolved and clarified, still gives us reason to speculate. It has often happened that the Republic of Macedonia has always been at the forefront of the Latin principle divide et impera, always pushing Albanians from the ethnic Albanian lands away from solutions to their own problems. This time the elections for the council of the prefect of Shkupi, where even there the latter was elected with the votes of various citizens, a member of the PDSH, was an official and their representative at the head of Shkupi. Not a single line in the Albanian media, especially when they know the history of these years of monopolistic Albanian politics, has expressed determination to oppose the election of the head of the council, all the more so when he may be declared the winner by his majority. This time only the path of resistance will set things right. All temptations toward cooperation and submission cannot be an alternative. What Albanians in Shkupi must demonstrate today is the determination to preserve the dignity of their vote, secondly the mechanism of rejecting any imposition and, thirdly, how long this struggle will last.
