VLORE - Vlorë police mobilized against the trafficking of clandestine migrants.
Two days ago, all the owners of speedboats, around 15–20 people, were summoned to the Vlorë police station and warned that the police would not tolerate any attempt to transport clandestine migrants to the other side of the Adriatic. There were no threats, just a simple notice asking all the speedboat owners to report to the police station. They duly arrived in their luxury cars at the station, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Mulosmani. They remained in cells until midday on Tuesday.

FIER - With the arrival of August, fear of aggressive insects has returned to the villages of Fier. Two kinds of spiders—a black spider with red spots on its abdomen and another yellow one—have become the main “enemies” of the pathologists at Fier hospital, who have had to send more than 15 bitten villagers to hospital for emergency admission.
The “attack” by the cunning insects began some time ago. Almost every day, five to six people are admitted to Fier hospital complaining of the now familiar symptoms caused by the bites of these spiders. Both kinds have a potent venom that becomes even stronger in summer. Their bites cause severe pain in the joints, back pain, and vomiting. The effects of the poisoning do not go away easily; patients are usually fully recovered after a week. Most victims of the aggressive spider’s venom have been recorded in rural areas. Among them are Libofsha, Peshtani, Hamili, Grecallia; these are the villages where the highly visible insects, the spiders, have forced around 12–15 nests of their own.

DURRES - Orthodox believers celebrated one of their traditional feasts: the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. According to a photograph from the ATSH news agency in Durrës, more than 10 people gathered yesterday at the Church of Saint Basil in Rrashbull. As is customary, the believers celebrated throughout the night after the service for this feast, which began late in the evening. The ceremonial tradition for this feast calls for believers to light candles at the Holy Stone. The feast marks the end of the period of weekly fasting, and yesterday celebrations began with traditional sacrificial offerings.
