The four men arrested a few days ago on charges of creating illegal parties and associations appeared before the judges yesterday. Tare Isufi, 73, Sami Meta, 62, Timoshenko Pekmezi, 54, and Kristaq Mosko, 45, appeared before the judges yesterday to learn the address of their new residence.

KAVAJË — She kills her husband, but does not “llë” her baby’s life Kavajë maternity hospital, where 39-year-old SH.K., accused of murder, gave birth under the watch of doctors and police alike. Just a few months ago, she killed her husband in his sleep in the village of Golemas. Her husband’s death is described as so tragic that she answered only once: She killed him by striking him on the head with a sledgehammer.
When the crime was committed, the woman was pregnant—she was expecting her fourth child—so, under the law, she was admitted to the Kavajë maternity hospital and kept under police surveillance around the clock. Her pregnancy and the birth of the child led to the postponement of the trial. On this matter, Kavajë Court President Durim Kadiu told us that a request had been made to the hospital to establish when the woman would be well enough to leave and be placed at the disposal of justice.
The greatest loser in this unusual story seems to be the baby itself, who is not only born an orphan, but “must also wait” for the sentence justice will hand down to its mother.

TIRANA — “Sunny Beach” has begun unveiling its promised surprises. And the coastal sunshine offered by the major international company has warmed the family of Albanian Social Democrats’ leader Skënder Gjinushi as well. In one of the luxurious venues of the “Tirana International Hotel,” representatives of the sun-holiday company gave Gjinushi a video recorder. It was, indeed, a gift. The Gjinushi family was the lucky one selected from among 40 other contestants.
It all began with a survey conducted by the “Sunny Beach” company. Are you married? How many weeks a year do you take a holiday? Is it better to own property or rent?—and many other questions were handed out for people to fill in. The family of the Social Democratic leader was among the 40 positively selected participants. It was precisely on the basis of this final selection that the surprise lottery was organized. Those present held their breath for a moment. Of the 40 envelopes, just one was drawn. And it bore the name Gjinushi. Even so, for the Social Democratic leader this is not simply luck. “The same thing will happen in the upcoming elections, too,” he says jokingly, but also with a note of determination.
