In Elbasan, a lifeless body under the bridge ELBASAN - Another case of the death of a newborn baby was recorded yesterday in the Elbasan district. This time the victim is a baby boy left among the rubbish under the Zaranika bridge, which crosses the city of Elbasan. A passerby, who also alerted the police, found the lifeless body of the baby under the bridge. As soon as the police were notified, officers from the station and forensic experts arrived at the scene. As it has been learned, the child was born alive and death came as a result of yesterday’s low temperature. One lead may help shed light on the case. The baby was wrapped in two sheets and a blanket, which may help identify his mother. Meanwhile, the forensic examination determined that the child was about 10 days old. According to the police, all suspicions lead to the conclusion that the newborn was born outside the maternity hospital. This is also the line of inquiry the Elbasan police are following. This incident is the second in one week in the Elbasan district. On Friday, in the village of Gjergjan in the Peqin district, another lifeless baby was found, also under a bridge. It is understood that the newborn had only a few hours of life. On Thursday morning, a newborn baby was found in a survival condition near the Elbasan landfill. The child was female.
