TIRANA - “Bread will cost more today.” The warning was issued yesterday by all the bakery owners in the capital. The prices of almost all food products have risen in retail outlets. Meanwhile, bread continues to be valued, and foreign currency is now being held as a deposit. This has caused a devastating decline in the daily economy of Albanian villages, while bread—considered an essential item in fast-moving trade—is undergoing its first price increase.

TIRANA - The verification of the assets of the “Popull” and “Xhaferri” foundations has been completed. In the vast sea of debts, their real estate is no more than a drop in the ocean. For “Popull,” it is negligible. Driza had only five cars and three apartments. As for “Xhaferri,” its assets amount to ten million dollars. But even this, when compared with the large number of clients, appears unlikely to change the 52 percent figure for the payout rate.
Meanwhile, the Republic’s Prosecutor’s Office has also ordered the seizure of all the assets of the now-bankrupt Gjallica company. An investigative team of investigators and experts has also been set up to examine the extent of this scandal; they will verify all its assets and their corresponding value. All the documentation will be investigated to establish the company’s actual debt to its clients and then begin the procedures for selling these assets at auction.

TIRANA - “Your violence will have catastrophic consequences.” The DP calls for drastic measures against every attempt at destabilization and destruction. In an appeal distributed late yesterday, the Democratic Party warns of an iron fist against the organizers, instigators and perpetrators of violence. The harsh tone and the familiar labels the appeal directs at the socialists are plainly direct and severe in style. Urging citizens to remain calm, the appeal warns that “power cannot be taken through violence and Albania’s stability cannot be shaken by the Red Mafia.” This is the first appeal issued by the DP’s central headquarters in recent days. Written in a harsh tone, the DP statement assures that “any violence that may be used will have catastrophic consequences,” expressing confidence that “justice will give terrorists the punishment they deserve.” Advising Gjallica’s creditors to form their own assemblies, the statement concludes by urging citizens not to follow the regime’s forces blindly.
“Dialogue to establish peace”
TIRANA - “Stam” has drawn a close connection between the financial troubles at the time and the Democratic Party.” Leader Ranieri, representative of the Italian PDS, who was in Tirana a few days ago, stated his position in Rome on the first meetings, saying: “I am not in a position to establish any connection between the context and what I am being asked to do.”
Ranieri specified in an interview that, in all its meetings with Tirana politicians, the PDS clearly emphasized the need to improve the political climate among Albanian parties, in order to find a common path for reforms that guarantees peace and stability in Albania and the Balkan region.
