TIRANË - At least eight opposition parties have decided not to take part in the roundtable invited for today by Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi. The parties announced that they do not accept the roundtable as a solution to the problem and see in it only a maneuver to gain time. The government and the opposition have clashed for several days over the creation of this roundtable. The opposition considers it an unnecessary meeting, only to delay time. It is calling for the creation of a technical government, the removal of President Berisha and the holding of early elections. At least seven right-wing opposition parties, including the PSD, have opposed participation in today's roundtable. They decided yesterday, after the meeting of the General Council of the Democratic Alliance Party, to coordinate their position. Meanwhile, the leader of the Republican Party, Sabri Godo, declared that he would personally take part in the roundtable invited by Meksi. According to him, despite the lack of an opposition compromise, he will present the position of the highest forum of the PR together with its leadership. Godo has opposed the roundtable, but has insisted on his participation, saying that he holds a mandate from his party's governing forum. Albanian politics is expected to enter a new phase in the coming weeks, with confrontations from all sides. The opposition and the government are hardening their positions while the time for the ultimatum is running out on both sides.
