Document The Head of the OSCE Verification Mission, William Uoker, was in the municipality of Podujevë yesterday. After visiting the OSCE Office in this town, he and his associates went to Llapashticë, where he met with the leaders of the KLA’s Llap Operational Zone, specifically Commander Remi. UOKER: I would like to know your opinions, if you have the opportunity to hear the news; what is your view on what is happening in Rambouillet? Commander REMI: “We are constantly listening to the news and remain in continuous contact with our delegation there. Rambouillet is welcome to us, but we have never viewed it with optimism. We believe this will be an attempt to open a process leading to further meetings that will be held to resolve the Kosovo issue. We do not expect results that will definitively resolve it. Nevertheless, our delegation in Rambouillet is presenting our positions and saying what needs to be said. The latest news regarding the disarmament of the KLA, as well as the pressure being exerted by international organizations, is misplaced. The population received this with astonishment, while we, who are fighting, promise the people that we will not lay down our weapons.” Continued on page 5
