Editorial Anian Çani Rugova, the Europeans’ most pampered Kosovar, dared yesterday to mock and insult a state that was officially making arrangements to welcome him into its home. Yesterday Rugova deceived all those Albanians who wanted to know more about Kosovo’s most talked-about man. After announcing from Rome that he would come to Albania, this modern-day man of peace cancelled his visit, leaving not only senior Albanian officials, the parties in government and the opposition, but also the organizers of the long-awaited meeting—the Italians themselves—standing there empty-handed. Yesterday, from Rome, there was no clear answer. “We don’t know; Mr. Rugova only told us that he was cancelling his visit to Albania,” they replied at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile in Tirana, Meidani was rushing to be on time for the long-awaited meeting; Majko was cancelling his schedule, as were Milo and Gjynushi.
