As usual, yesterday Kola got up before dawn and at around 4:15 left his home, where his driver was waiting for him with the four-wheel drive. Along with a large truck that was to be loaded in Gjirokastër, the two vehicles set off in the early hours of the morning toward the warehouses. After traveling several kilometers, the two vehicles separated because of the difference in their speeds. The four-wheel drive in which Kola was traveling was reportedly ambushed near the village of Panaja, at a place called “Panaja’s Fountain,” known as a spot where masked men rob travelers.
