In June ’98, Richard Holbruk went to Junik, a KLA base in Kosovo.
Seven days later, he met Fatos Nano in Switzerland. The head of the Albanian Government wanted to convince the Americans that the KLA was an unquestionable partner. But Holbruk hesitated. “Those guys of yours,” he complained to Nano, “a few days ago, when I went to their base, they threatened me with automatic rifles, which I will not tolerate.”
