BREAKING NEWS What at first was announced only as an ordinary detention, reportedly for some kind of rule violation, in fact turns out to be a scandal. According to information that reached our newsroom, the head of the Has police station, Eshtë, was removed from office by order of the minister and then arrested. The Kukës Prosecutor’s Office is also carefully examining several other names from the police structures who may have been involved in the Kimeteci scandal and in the misuse of derivatives in the column Haxhan Haxhanaj of Tropoja. At least that is what has been announced up to this moment. Later, further information and surprising developments emerged regarding this investigation. The head of the Has police, the arrested man and other arrests were confirmed last night while the exact name of the police official who was to be arrested was being sought. No one managed to learn it. Yesterday, for the second time, these inconsistencies and the evening developments gave the case an even more alarming character. A police source said the arrest was made on the orders of the ministry and that no one in the police could understand the reasons. Along with his arrest, several close subordinates were also suspended, while further orders were expected. The version initially given was that it involved a minor abuse by the police chief involving fuel, while other sources close to the investigation claimed that this was only a softened version of the event. “For this there would never be an arrest warrant,” says one of the high-ranking law-enforcement authorities. A few hours later, another version circulated, according to which the head of the Has police station would be arrested for an abuse involving the diesel of the peasants of Tropoja, which was being taken by illegal routes out of the country. But in this explanation there were at least three inaccuracies. First, even this abuse is unlikely to lead to such a severe arrest measure, especially when it concerns such a high-ranking official. Second, this version obscures the role of Hasan Haxhanaj of Tropoja. Third, it also contains other obvious inaccuracies.
