The Autocephalous Church of Albania is quite concerned about the film “Balkan Pazar”. In a protest letter addressed to the State Committee on Cults and, for information, to Prime Minister Berisha, the Minister of Culture and the Italian ambassador in Tirana, it calls Budina’s film offensive and defamatory. Considering that the film is extremely sarcastic, it portrays priests as desecrators of graves, traffickers in human bones and their families as immoral, the church has warned that the request for the committee on cults. It asks that “our protest be made known to the state bodies that support and financed this film full of slander; that care be taken to avoid such distortions in the future and that care be taken to implement Law 10057/29.1.2009, on the protection of sacred places of worship and their return to the Orthodox Church that created them and to which they belong”.....
