This is what the president of the Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio, stated yesterday in an exclusive interview for “Gazeta Shqiptare”. At the request of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, this commission is expected to issue an opinion regarding the local elections of 8 May in Albania in December, while next week its experts will arrive in Tirana to analyze the electoral legislation and the problems identified by electoral practices in the country. “Albanian democracy is not yet mature, while the recent crises and political deadlock show that the country is not heading in the right direction,” Buquicchio emphasizes.
