IN THE YEARS OF XHANFISE KEKO’S LIFE... BY SKIFTER KËLLIÇI Prologue I had just finished reading the memoir book “The Years of My Life” by Xhanfise Keko, the great film director for children, who left us in 2007, a book that was given to me by her son, Iliri, a director at RTVSH, when two friends, husband and wife, came to my apartment with their 10-year-old son. This visit would have remained one of the usual ones, if before they left, the boy had not approached the table, taken that book in his hands and, pointing with his finger at the photograph of her on the cover, said: -Aunt Xhanoja, right? Well, she was born in Quincy, (Boston), where she lived for more than 12 years. As his parents later told me, he had seen her only once in Tirana, even from the street, when he had gone there with them, and he had also seen her later somewhere, on a television channel screen, when she was giving an interview... This year (2011) world culture celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Polish Nobel Prize-winning poet Czesław Miłosz under the slogan “The Year of Miłosz”. The Nobel Prize is awarded every year (since 1901) by the Nobel Foundation (a Swedish-Norwegian foundation) based in Stockholm, created according to the will of the Swedish chemist and industrialist Alfred Bernard Nobel (1833-1896), for the greatest achievements in chemistry, physics, philosophy, literature, as well as for activities in the field of bringing peoples closer together (the peace prize).
