Dossier by Fatos Veliu/ Media buzz in Vienna over the attempt to kill the King A newspaper seller helped capture those who killed adjutant Llesh Topallaj According to the Viennese dailies, on 20 February, on “Operngasse” street, at 10:15 p.m. Vienna time, 15 pistol shots were fired at the Albanian king, Ahmet Zogu. He survived miraculously, but it would not have been so had it not been for Llesh Topallaj, his aide, who, in trying to save his life, was himself left dead by two bullets to the head. The attack also left the royal court minister, Ekrem Libohova, injured. Such an event was extremely rare and could not have been imagined in cultured Vienna, especially not on one of its main streets.
