Electronic vote counting fails By DARINA TANUSHI The 210 members of the newly elected Socialist Assembly yesterday chose the party’s new leadership and secretariat. Among around 30 candidacies, 10 women and 20 men, the Assembly members reconfirmed Gramoz Ruçi, not only as chairman of the highest forum after the party Congress, but also gave him the highest number of votes. Ruçi received 190 votes as chairman of the National Assembly, in an uncontested race, while he received 177 votes as a member of the leadership. Sources from the SP said that socialist leader Rama had proposed that the vote for the head of the Assembly be open, but this was not accepted by Ruçi. In the list of candidates proposed by Rama at the start of the National Assembly meeting, the absence of Kastriot Islami and Andis Harasani was noted, as expected, following the worsened relations after the 2009 elections.
