The fate of Dritan Prifti will be decided after the Supreme Court delivers its verdict on former deputy prime minister Ilir Meta, who risks prison and a fine for active corruption. The General Prosecutor’s Office, which has been investigating for months the corruption of the former minister of Economy, Trade and Energy, Prifti, as well as the former number two of the ministry, Leonard Beqiraj, decided to sign off on extending the investigation by another month. The news is confirmed by official sources near the central prosecution institution, according to whom prosecutors Bujar Sheshi and Anila Leka informed the lawyers of Prifti and Beqiraj of the decision to postpone the investigation deadline. During this time, the prosecution is expected to carry out several further investigative actions and then decide whether to bring charges against the two former METE leaders or dismiss the case.
