The opposition: Plloçi’s departure should shake his colleagues By KLODIANA LALA Constitutional Court member Petrit Plloçi resigned yesterday, objecting to the long extension of his term, which had expired in May 2010. Parliament blocked his replacement, as well as that of two other Constitutional Court members, Xhezair Zaganjori and Admir Thanza. The Court itself also confirmed this decision a few days ago. But Plloçi considers this a serious infringement of the legitimacy of the Constitutional Court. In his resignation letter he is reported to have said that “the term can be extended for a reasonable period, as the Constitution provides, until the successor arrives, but it cannot be so long as to amount to consuming a substantial part of a second 9-year term, as is happening in this case,” Plloçi clarified.
