The wife and father-in-law of Valer Xheka, former head of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Albania, will be investigated by the Special Task-Force Unit on charges of laundering the proceeds of crime. The news is confirmed by official prosecution sources, according to which Aleksandra Xheka and Kleanthi Zoto (former lecturer at the Higher Party School), suspected of having, in cooperation with Valer Xheka, profited millions from the rent of a property belonging to the Union, which they privatized illegally. “GSH” has managed to obtain a decision by the Tirana court, which, on the basis of the prosecution’s request, ordered the seizure of the properties and assets of Valer Xheka and his family members. In addition to the former “11 Shkurti” printing house, the court has signed an order to freeze all of Xheka’s bank accounts, the amount of which runs into thousands of euros.
