With 75 votes in favor and 54 abstentions, Parliament approved yesterday the President of the Republic’s decree appointing Adriatik Llalla to the post of Prosecutor General. The Speaker of Parliament, Jozefina Topalli, did not take part in the vote. Parliament’s press office clarified yesterday officially for the media that “Ms. Topalli’s non-vote is fully deliberate and a personal choice of hers.” The new chief prosecutor also received a vote in favor from FRD MP Gazmend Oketa, the head of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule, and MP Kastriot Islami, expelled from the parliamentary group of the PS, all of whom had previously publicly declared their support for Adriatik Llalla. The opposition, as it had announced, chose to abstain en bloc. Meanwhile, PS MP Tom Doshi and independent MP Dritan Prifti, although they had declared a vote in favor of Llalla, were not present in Parliament at the time of voting.....
