Just three minutes were enough for the Supreme Court to read the verdict for the former deputy prime minister Ilir Meta, to whom it granted acquittal. The Penal College, chaired by Ardian Dvorani, although it had ten days at its disposal to reach a decision on the former number two of the Albanian government, revealed after two days the fact that Ilir Meta was being declared innocent, with the argument that “the fact is not proven to exist”, but it did not publish the full reasoning on which the members of the Penal College based such a verdict. Even yesterday’s hearing, the judicial panel was delayed by more than two hours from the time set for announcing the decision against the defendant Ilir Meta.
