Opposition: Plloçi’s departure should shake his colleagues By KLODIANA LALA The member of the Constitutional Court, Petrit Plloçi, has resigned, opposing the long extension of his term, which had ended back in May 2010. Parliament blocked his replacement, as well as that of the other two members of the Constitutional Court, Xhezair Zaganjori and Admir Thanza. The Court itself also confirmed this decision a few days ago. But Plloçi considers this a serious blow to the legitimacy of the Constitutional Court. In his resignation statement, he is said to have stated that “the mandate may be extended for a reasonable time, as provided by the Constitution, until the successor arrives, but it cannot be so long as to amount to the wearing away of a substantial part of a second 9-year mandate, as is happening in this case,” Plloçi specified.
