Failure to pay taxes: Albanian entrepreneurs owe the Greek state 38 million
euros. Debtors, the police arrest the director of the newspaper “Elefterotipia” in Athens

The Greek Ministry of Fi-
nance has published a
list of the names of 4,152
people who owe the
state a total amount of
14 billion 877 mil-
lion euros. Among them
are major businesspeo-
ple, athletes, singers and
public as well as less well-
known figures suspected
of tax evasion because
they have not paid their
tax obligations to the
state. According to the
list, http://www.gsis.
gr/debtors/fp.html, the
largest debtor is one per-
son, Nikola Kasima-
tis, with a total obliga-
tion of 952 million euros.
If we look at the names
on the list of Greece’s
largest debtors, there is
also a not insignificant
number of Albanians,
who seem to have con-
tributed to “sinking”
Greece even deeper into
the economic crisis. At
least 64 Albanians owe
the Greek state a total
