List of roads that will be blocked On the eve of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Albania’s Independence, there has been a “boom” of self-surrenders at police stations across the country by people declared wanted who are benefiting from the 28 November amnesty. The news was confirmed yesterday by sources close to the State Police, who said that most of these self-surrendered individuals meet the criteria approved in the government’s temporary pardon law. Meanwhile, it is reported that the government’s decision on the amnesty has now also arrived in written form at every prison directorate, and that the jurists of the rehabilitation institutions are drawing up the final lists for the release of convicts. According to the amnesty, which enters into force on 28 November, 1,380 people penalized not with prison but with an alternative sentence or a fine will have their sentence fully forgiven and will gain full freedom.
