The release of those arrested for murder makes our work more difficult The year 2012 appears to be a turning point for the State Police. The General Patrol will have 1,000 more police officers. The news was confirmed by the Director General of Prisons, Hysni Burgaj. According to Burgaj, the increase in the number of personnel in the general patrol comes as part of the strategy to prevent crime and the fact that the police is increasingly trying to be as close as possible to the community every day. The chief of police stressed that the initiative to increase the number of police officers came from the need created by the fact that in many areas their number was very small. In fact, there are many small towns, as well as rural areas, where police officers are forced to work only on the third shift, which is not normal in the situation we are in. “Raising public awareness will be our challenge for the coming year. We will take all the necessary measures in order to prevent crimes and to be closer to the community,” said Mr. Burgaj.
