Interview, Vjollca Braho speaks: Under the new law, those who are already in supplementary retirement and also active personnel who, due to age, are in old-age retirement will benefit from a supplementary pension By LORENC RABETA In her first interview as general director of the Social Insurance Institute, Vjollca Braho, appointed to this position as the result of a political agreement between the Democratic Party and the PDIU, explains the current situation of social insurance in Albania and outlines the main lines that will be followed in the future. The new head of the ISSH stresses that the pension scheme must be revised and, because of its complexity and importance in the country’s life, this reform requires broad political consensus. According to the new ISSH director, one of the key developments for 2012 is improving the scheme for the gradual increase of the retirement age. Braho explains that this will significantly increase the number of pensioners, which has nevertheless been anticipated, and every pensioner will be guaranteed a pension.... Continued on page 10
